Inspiration lives all around.

We find sparks in fine art and travel. We catch glimpses in conversation and ideas in the buzz of bees in the garden.

Our Creative Process

Our creative process is grounded in exploration – we combine traditional forms of research with studio experimentation to create visual concepts that are equal parts unique and authentic. While we use imagination in all that we do, we don’t leave things to question. We match colours, mood board styles and sketch concepts to ensure we are on the same page before turning to the next one.

We create with intuition and soul to design with intention. Each placement has a purpose, and each flower has its moment in all of our designs.

We honour our Earth

Flowers are a beautiful, integral part of your wedding day. You shouldn’t have to go without them or stress about them because of sustainability concerns.

Burnt Sienna Flowers prides itself on working with the Earth, not against it. We believe in taking responsibility for our environmental impact and making more ethical choices within our business practice.

This means…

  • There really is no place like home, especially when it comes to sourcing beautiful blooms. Local farmers are some of the best and most passionate in the world, making them a joy to work with both creatively and professionally.

Sourcing flowers locally also drastically reduces negative environmental impacts. Most of Australia’s market flowers – especially those not in season – are imported. The carbon emissions needed to transport these florals into the country are high and the quarantine process is chemically intense. With more negatives than positives, sourcing locally is an easy ethical decision. And a supportive community one.

  • In line with supporting local growers, we endeavour to source only seasonal flowers – this way, we can further reduce our import and emissions impact.

We design with the beauty each season brings – Delphinium in Spring, Dahlias in Summer, Roses in Autumn, Wattles in Winter and more – creating arrangements that honour our Earth and fulfil your vision.

Any unwanted blooms after your event may also be given back to us for drying. You are welcome to recollect these to repurpose in your own way or leave them with us to repurpose for future designs and events.

  • Chemically preserved, dyed and spray-painted flowers and foliage are marketed by some florists as a sustainable alternative to fresh flowers. However, the chemical treatment process and understanding of what is natural and what is not can be confusing.

So we have stopped using chemically preserved flowers entirely. Instead, we choose to honour the natural beauty of the world and use blooms that have not been altered in any way.

  • Floral foam is a synthetic single-use plastic typically used as a base in floral arrangements. It is non-biodegradable (meaning it doesn’t break down in the environment), is toxic to all fauna and has the equivalent amount of plastic to 10 plastic shopping bags.

Burnt Sienna Flowers has completely cut floral foam from our business practices. Instead, we use chicken wire, re-useable mechanics and vintage vases and vessels to give shape to our designs.

Just as we keep these values close to our heart, we keep you close throughout the creative journey.

We walk beside you every step of the way, providing support when needed and a sounding board for all of your ideas and questions.

Burnt Sienna Flowers accepts a limited number of weddings per year. This is a considered and deliberate decision that allows us to commit fully to the couples we work with.
